Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are great for strolling around the neighborhood or for jogging. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight spaces.

If you're looking for a smooth ride with your baby, opt for models with 360deg front wheels that swivel. They are susceptible, however, to punctures. Be prepared with an emergency repair kit.

Frame made of sturdy material

Recent figures have been released that show that the three-wheeled buggie - that noughties symbol of more money than wisdom - is in steep decline. They've been replaced with four-wheelers that can be more versatile in terrain, yet still look elegant and easy to push.

It was able to handle grass, cobbles and rough pavements, as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said it felt sturdy to push, and extremely solid on rough terrain. Its tyres, which are inflatable and need to be pumped up occasionally and have a suspension built-in. It was extremely comfortable for my children.

The size and shape of the seat is a further factor to consider. It is important for the seat to be large enough for your child to be at ease and to lie down. Certain three-wheel buggies come with the option of lying flat, which allows your child to lie flat and face you, while others only allow a parent-facing one.

This can be problematic if you intend to use it for jogging or have to squeeze through doorways that are narrow while on the move. Most models come with compact folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.

Easy to manoeuvre

A three-wheeled buggy is easier to maneuver with children. The way in which they are constructed means that the front wheels turn at a whim and are extremely easy to maneuver which makes them perfect for difficult terrains such as parks, cobbles, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried out a three-wheeler with her toddler and newborn and wrote: "The Terrain was a pleasure to navigate over the rough ground and the swivel front wheel being especially helpful. I was also impressed by the way it handled the kerbs, particularly when using the hand-operated brake. It was very stable in the downhills or on uneven terrain."

The only drawback of this incredible mobility is that the 3 wheel running stroller wheel buggy's larger wheels do sometimes mean it has to struggle in tight spaces - something to keep in mind when you live in a city region. If this is an issue, a 4-wheel buggy might be a better choice for you.
