Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Mulliner, Bentley's custom coachbuilding unit, has created a unique keycase to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the company. Made from Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a flying "B" paperweight, a set keys and a brochure featuring never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre imagery.

Aesthetics

As a design-driven company, Bentley takes its aesthetics seriously. Secure-A-Key is also available to help prevent keyless entry theft. This device is placed inside the remote-control fob, and it shuts it down when the key has not been used for a few minutes. It prevents thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices which will allow the key to be opened and start the car.

The resulting configuration is then loaded onto individual R.F.I.D.-enabled key cards which are handed out to the guests in a custom key case. The keys can also be equipped with Bentley Muliner Personalised Welcome Lamps that illuminate the door's opening pathway with the owner's name or emblem as they are approaching the vehicle.

Bentley Key Fob Programming claims it takes about 500 man-hours in order to create and assemble the average Mulsanne. The reluctance to embrace new technology is the key to this time-consuming effort. The Crewe factory workers do not use a machine to space perfectly matched cross stitched leather seats. Instead, they do it by hand. Drivers are required to park their vehicles manually, instead of using sensors built into the vehicle to direct them to perpendicular and parallel spaces.
