The only wide receiver who isn't speedy on the list who benefits from more slot time is Corey Coleman, as he's an extremely reliable receiver on intermediate and short routes.

Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler and other possession-based receivers are at the low end of the list. They're better on shorter and intermediate routes than deep areas. Jeudy is a great choice for a sleeper this year, as he'll be the primary slot receiver for the Rams while Courtland Sutton and Amari Cooper are expected to play on more downfield targets. On contrary, some receivers excel at playing inside and can't do much on the outer. Percentage of Snaps Outside

While top NFL receivers such as Golden Tate, Larry Fitzgerald, and Baldwin excel on the perimeter however, their slot counterparts are just as effective. As a whole wide receivers who have a high slot receiving grade score touchdowns roughly at the same amount as those who are on the outside. This is mainly because quarterbacks are more consistent in their targets when they throw to outside and slot wide receivers than other inside options such as tight ends and backfield passers.

It's interesting to see a player such as CeeDee lamb on this list for 2022. He plays the slot in 3 WR sets, and flanker in 2 of the sets. Mecole Hardman is another example of a player who's capable of posting big numbers on both targets. He has a very high slot receiving grade and is one of the league's top players at catching back-shoulder throws, but he's also an excellent opponent for contested catch.

Another player on this list who's a slot specialist in the true sense is Baltimore's Jalen Hilton, who has lined up in the slot on 85.7 percent of his defensive snaps this season. He has the third-lowest EPA for targets, and the fifth-best EPA for runs stopped among cornerbacks in the slot. This makes him a valuable member of his team's defensive unit. He's struggled to stop passes from the outside, and his EPA against this type of target is negative. This is due to him playing with linebackers and safety players who cannot match Hilton's speed, size and route-running abilities.
