1. iRobot 11S

It is available in three models including the standard S7, the S7 MaxV Plus, and the S7 MaxV Ultra. Only the latter has an Empty Wash Fill Dock (or an alternative Auto-Empty Dock). These docks allow the robot to return to its base and empty the debris it has collected into a dust bag or reservoir, empty the dirty water tank, and wash its mopping pads.

The S7's sensors work to avoid obstacles and clean floors. It can detect the types of floors and save a map of rooms and zones, and even detect dirt levels. It also has the ability to schedule and execute spot cleaning sessions. It did well in our tests, but it wasn't able to quite match the iRobot Roomba j7+ in our carpet deep clean test.

You can program the S7 using the companion app to run a cleansing cycle according to your schedule. You can select an option for cleaning that is eco or automatic, as well as a weekday, day or even a time. The IQ XL is able to connect to your WiFi at home, allowing you to monitor its cleaning progress from the Shark app. The app lets you create a cleaning schedule and also receive push notifications on its current status in cleaning, pause it and then resume cleaning or set it to clean one specific area. If you must empty it, all you have to do is untie the side bin, place it over a trash container and then press a button to eject its contents.

There's not much to dislike about the Shark IQ XL, although it does feel slightly less sturdy than the Roomba 694. It's good at cleaning carpeted floors, but doesn't match the iRobot Roomba i7 in terms of the performance of bare floors. The i7 is also built better and feels more durable and sturdy, has less maintenance requirements, has lower monthly costs, and charges faster while offering comparable battery performance and far more advanced automation features, such as no-go zones and the capability to select specific rooms for a clean.

4. iRobot J7+

This robot mop/vac combo is a rare beast, since it does both jobs very well. iRobot Combo j7+ has all the features and smarts similar to its j7 counterpart including LiDAR maps and self-emptying. It also comes with additional features for vacuuming and mopping.

The j7+ uses the new acoustic sensor to detect the type of floor which allows it to mop or vacuum the room during its initial pass. It also utilizes this information to prioritize cleaning rooms that have carpet or rug flooring over rooms with hard floors.

The J7+ is quieter than most robotic vacuums when it's running and is even quieter when it's mopping. Its maximum reading on our decibel meter was 64db, which is similar to the noise of general office chatter.

It's simple to establish an appointment for cleaning and change what the j7+ does when its dust container is full. The j7+ is also controlled by voice assistants, such as Alexa, Google Assistant and other. for a hands-free approach and the app allows you to create and explore maps of your home.

The j7+ did well in our tests of both carpeted and hard floors, removing all the dirt we threw at it. It has a hard time dealing with pet hair, large particles and sand.
