Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Mulliner, Bentley's bespoke coachbuilding unit has designed a distinctive keycase to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Bentley. Made from Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a flying 'B' paperweight, a set keys and a brochure featuring never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images.

Aesthetics

Bentley is a brand that takes its aesthetics seriously. It is evident in the precise position of its quilting, the selection of leather from cattle by-products, the wood that comes from sustainably managed forests and the innovative patterns on its levers. As you approach a vehicle like the Continental GT W12, its beautiful sculptural design is highlighted by carefully selected lighting.

The Continental GT is Bentley's most sophisticated open-top car. Its rear tonneau for instance, displayed the largest piece of dark-stained, book-matched Burr Walnut veneer ever applied to an actual production Bentley. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

It is this bespoke design, attention to detail and craftsmanship to detail that have established Bentley as the most sought-after automotive brand. The company continues to push the boundaries with the latest technologies and craftsmanship. In celebration of its Centenary, Bentley introduced a unique specification called the Centenary Specification for cars manufactured in 2019. The cabin is equipped with cross-stitching and contrast stitching in Centenary Gold throughout. The Bentley Wings are embroidered with Centenary Gold on the headrests and seats as well as other areas of the car. This enhances the celebration. Function

Personalisation

Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to design their own vehicle. The "mood station" allows guests to select images that inspire them. They can range from picturesque vistas to sporting events. Each time a selection is made, the pattern that emerges will reveal the model colors, style and color preferences for the bespoke Bentley key fob.

The configuration that is created is then loaded onto individual R.F.I.D.-enabled keys that are then presented to the guests in a custom-made key case. The keys can also be outfitted with Bentley Muliner Personalised Welcome Lamps that light up the door's opening path with the owner's name or emblem as they approach the vehicle.

Bentley claims it takes about 500 man-hours to craft and assemble the average Mulsanne. The key to this time-consuming effort is a conscious refusal to embrace the latest technology. The Crewe factory workers do not make use of a machine to create perfectly-matched leather seats. Instead, they do it by hand. Instead of letting the car's built-in sensors guide it to perpendicular and parallel parking spots drivers must do it manually.
